At The Jungle Hub, nature is not something you have to travel somewhere else to experience. It is part of everyday life. Forest surrounds the property, water flows through the land, birds and other wildlife are constant companions, and our gardens bring us closer to the natural cycles that sustain us.
One of the highlights is our private waterfall, tucked away at the bottom of the property. We can take you on a walk through the land to reach it, where you can swim in the fresh water, sit on the rocks, enjoy the surroundings, or simply spend some time listening to the sounds of the falling water.
Imagine having the feeling of being in a private national park, without the crowds, tour groups, or tourist facilities. The Jungle Hub offers around 10 acres of forest, gardens, and natural surroundings to explore and enjoy at your own pace. With only a handful of guests staying here at any one time, you can experience an unusual sense of space, privacy, and freedom. The land feels like yours to discover, with no crowds competing for your attention—just you and the natural world around you.

Permaculture as a Way to Mimic Nature
Permaculture begins with observation. By carefully studying natural cycles, relationships, and patterns, we can better understand how ecosystems function and learn to work with them rather than against them. Instead of forcing nature to produce what we want, we look at how it already creates the conditions for life to flourish and use those principles to guide the way we cultivate the land.
Over the years, we have transformed the areas that were once used as cow pastures—approximately one third of the property—into a regenerating landscape guided by permaculture principles. Our approach to growing food continues to evolve through a deeper understanding of what makes plants thrive. It begins beneath our feet: healthy soil is a living ecosystem, home to entire communities of microorganisms that break down organic matter, cycle nutrients, and create the conditions plants need to grow.
When we care for this living soil, we support more than just our food gardens. Thriving plants provide food and habitat for insects, which in turn support birds and other animals. Each level is connected to the others, forming an intricate web of life in which every organism has a role. By learning to understand and nurture these relationships, we aim to create a productive landscape that works with nature’s own processes while becoming increasingly rich in biodiversity.
Tropical Forest
Around 2.5 hectares (6 acres) of The Jungle Hub are covered by natural forest. We value this part of the land not for what we can extract from it, but for what it gives back: habitat for wildlife, biodiversity, fresh air, and a direct connection with the natural environment.
We share a boundary with a nearby nature reserve, which helps protect the wider natural area. We do our part by preserving our forest and allowing it to remain a living ecosystem.
Guests can explore it on foot, follow the trails, observe the vegetation, or simply find a quiet place to sit and take it all in.
Wildlife
The forest, gardens, and surrounding landscape provide habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. Monkeys move through the trees, toucans and parrots pass overhead, and butterflies bring movement and color to the gardens. There is always something happening if you take the time to observe.
The land is also part of a wider natural environment where larger animals, including pumas, live. Encounters with wildlife are never guaranteed, and that is part of the experience: nature follows its own rhythm, not ours.
We see the diversity of life around us as something worth protecting. By caring for the land and allowing natural areas to thrive, we contribute to the conditions that make these encounters possible.
Birding
The Jungle Hub offers plenty of opportunities to observe birds without having to go far. Our gardens and surrounding forest attract a variety of species, and many can be spotted from the balconies or while walking around the property.
Costa Rica lies along important migratory routes between North and South America, and its remarkable bird diversity makes it a rewarding place for bird enthusiasts. Whether you are an experienced birdwatcher or simply curious about the birds around you, there is plenty to discover here. Take your time, listen, look up, and you may find yourself noticing much more than you expected.
